Reply vs New Thread vs Forward

Reply and Forward emails are used to follow up on previously sent emails to the prospects in order to create an email thread. It is essentially like going into your Sent folder and replying to/forwarding an email you’ve already sent.

This can be done manually from the contacts page or can be setup in the playbook itself. The image below shows how a user would reply/forward manually from the contact page. 

The image below shows how a user can add this to a playbook. As long as it isn't the first email step in the cadence, you can add a variant (template) and then select the type of email you would like to use: new, reply, forward.
